Is Macbeth mad in 2.1?

Is Macbeth mad in 2.1?

Macbeth is mad in 2.1 because he believes he is seeing a dagger in front of him. Lady Macbeth tells Macbeth that if he doesn't kill the king he will be a coward, so Macbeth took Lady Macbeth dare and decides to kill the king. Macbeth says, "Is this a dagger which I see before me,/ The handle toward my hand?" (2.1.33-34). This quote shows that Macbeth is mad because he is confused to as if he is actually seeing the dagger in front of him. When Macbeth decides to kill the king he is nervous, so he sees hallucinations. Macbeth says, "A dagger of the mind, a false creation,/ Proceeding from the heat-oppressed brain?" (2.1. 38-39). This quote also proves that Macbeth has gone mad because he sees hallucinations from his fevered brain. These quotes show how Macbeth has gone mad by hallucinating about the dagger, and believing that it's actually there.
